The Science of Fictions is Finally Available for Public

       Several Indonesian films have begun glimpsed by the Netflix film streaming platform. Previously there was Photocopier which aired exclusively on Netflix. Before that, there was Afterlife: A Love Story, A World Without, Ali & Queens of Queens and finally the film The Science of Fictions. Yosep Anggi Noen's film was released in 2019 at several local and international festivals. Not only did this film appear, but this film also won a nomination which was the best film at the 2019 Tempo Film Festival, Best Male Actor at the 2019 Indonesian Film Festival, and won an Honorable Mention at the 2019 Locarno Film Festival. 


 
      The film, which has the title Hiruk Pikuk si Al-Kisah in Indonesian, tells the story of Siman (Gunawan Muryanto), who was caught watching a video of the astronaut landing on the moon in 1962. After being caught, Siman was forced to bite his tongue off to leak the engineering design. Moon landing video. After the terrible incident, Siman lived his life in silence. Throughout the film, Siman does not say anything. However, he tries to convey the fact through his body language. For example, he walks in slow motion as if he were walking on the moon. Unfortunately, no one understands Siman's message. Thanks to his strange gait and behaviour, people around him think Siman has become insane.

      The story of this film arose from an idea when Yosep Anggi Noen was in Gumuk Pasir, Bantul. According to him, the place can provide several perspectives that can be captured because the environment is visually exciting. People can find cheap karaoke, localization, places of worship, even places for offerings to the Queen of the South Seas. The place is unkempt, with the interests of the characters. I made a story about the loss of a place. There is a dream (from that place) that you can become religious, have an emotional connection with your ancestors," he explained in an article in AntaraGunawan Maryanto, a veteran theatre player who recently died, has started to be watched on Netflix since February 1, 2022. This film was finally able to meet a wider audience because previously, this film had not been released in theatres.
