Lately, the name Kamila Andini has often been the talk of the Indonesian film industry. This is based on last year's film, Yuni, appearing in several international film arenas. "Yuni" was chosen to represent the Indonesian film that advanced for the Oscar nomination for the "Best International Feature Film" category. In addition, Yuni also won in the Platform Prize category at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and Best Main Actor at the Indonesian Film Festival. After winning several events, Kamila Andini's new film with the title Nana managed to reclaim the public's attention. Nana, having received funding through the Asian Project Market (APM) organized by the Busan International Film Festival and the Purin Pictures Autumn Grant from Bangkok, has successfully entered the main competition at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival.

The film, which has an international title "Before, Now & Then", is played by Happy Salam and Laura Basuki. This film tells the story of a woman's life in the 1960s, when Indonesia went through a post-independence phase. "This is 1960, the story of an ordinary woman named Nana who could be you, our brothers, sisters, mothers or grandmothers." wrote Kamila Andini in her Instagram post. In addition, according to Kamila Andini, this film has different challenges even though it has the same female angle as Yuni. In an interview conducted by Kamila Andini with 1NewsKamila Andini explained that this film made it necessary to present a perspective that could bring the audience to understand the theme of women in the 60's. It was because Kamila would not fully understand the phenomena experienced by women at that time, but Kamila had to provide a bridge to the audience that she got through the research she did. "While making this film, I was well aware that no matter how detailed the research was, it was impossible for me to understand the perspective of women at that time. I have to be very aware that after all, as a creator, I am a woman's perspective at the moment, so that's what this film is though settings the past, this is a product of the present, where we live in a different era," explained Kamila Andini in her interview.

The film, which is an adaptation of Ahda Imran's novel "Jais Darga Namaku", will compete to win the Golden Bear and Silver Bear Awards. Nana's film will compete with 17 other films, also known as the Berlinale. The screening in the competition for the film Nana will take place from 12-20 February 2022.
